SharePoint and Teams put workflow building beside the work

Mark Kashman’s 28 July guide shows how the Workflows experience can start inside SharePoint lists and libraries or Teams channels. Users can begin with context-aware templates or choose a trigger and action, then open the underlying automation in Power Automate when they need more control.

Building a small flow often begins with an awkward jump from the list, library, or Teams channel where the work actually happens into a blank automation designer. Starting from the item or channel gives a non-developer the right context and a smaller first step. That lower-friction entry point does not remove the need to check the flow itself. Once a workflow is shared, its owner, connections, run failures, and handoff still matter as much as the trigger and action that made it easy to start.

Analysis

Pick one repeatable moment, such as a new List item creating a Teams update or Planner task, and prototype it from the Workflows entry point. Before sharing it, name the flow owner and test what happens when the connection or action fails.
