Power Automate Desktop can now build PowerPoint decks

Microsoft says Power Automate for desktop is adding PowerPoint actions in July 2026 public preview. Makers can launch PowerPoint, create and update presentations by adding slides, and save changes inside a desktop flow. The feature is part of the 2026 release wave 1 plan. Microsoft warns that release-plan delivery dates can move, so teams should treat the date as a rollout window rather than a guarantee.
Before this, recurring slide work often sat outside the flow. A team might automate the data collection, then still copy numbers, screenshots, or status notes into a presentation by hand. This makes PowerPoint part of the automation surface, which is useful for weekly packs, handover decks, and management reports. It also creates a new failure point: a broken template, missing file path, or changed slide structure can now break the whole reporting process.
Analysis
Pick one low-risk recurring deck and test the PowerPoint actions against a copy first. Record the template owner, output location, and what should happen if the desktop flow cannot save the file.
