Microsoft ends Visio export for Power Automate flows in July

Microsoft ends Visio export for Power Automate flows in July

Starting July 14 2026 Microsoft will remove the option to export Power Automate flows from Visio. The change affects only new exports after that date. Existing BPMN diagrams and any flows already exported remain fully supported. No replacement export method is mentioned in the announcement. Users who rely on Visio for initial flow design must move to the native Power Automate designer before the cutoff.

Before this change some users could sketch a process in Visio then generate a flow file they could open and tweak. It gave them a familiar visual layer between their mental model and the actual automation. Now that bridge disappears. The only remaining path is the native designer whose trigger and action layout has been the main source of confusion for people without coding experience.

Analysis

Visio export was never a reliable crutch anyway. Open one current flow you actually use, export it as a package right now, and rebuild its logic directly in the native designer so you are not caught flat-footed when the option vanishes.
