Microsoft ends Power Platform release waves and moves the roadmap to AI at Work

Microsoft will stop publishing traditional Release Plans for Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Dataverse starting in September 2026. New capabilities will appear on the AI at Work roadmap as they are committed and ready to share, instead of in twice-yearly wave batches. Release Planner retires on 15 November 2026. Existing release plans stay online only as historical reference. Items already aimed at preview or general availability on or after 1 June 2026 move across in the fall 2026 transition. There will be no separate September 2026 Release Wave 2 announcement. The new roadmap is continuous and supports filtering, CSV export, RSS, and MCP server access so teams can track rollout progress in one place across business apps, productivity, and AI.
Before this change, many makers timed learning and build plans around the spring and fall wave pages and the Release Planner view. That rhythm made it easier to spot upcoming Power Automate, approvals, SharePoint, and connector work without living inside admin tooling every week. After September 2026 the official signal becomes an always-on AI at Work list. Useful flow features can land whenever Microsoft commits them, which helps if you watch the right filters. It also means Power Automate items can sit next to a much wider AI and business-app backlog, so silent misses replace the old wave checklist unless someone on the team owns a simple tracking habit.
Analysis
Treat this as a process change to watch, not a reason to rebuild live flows. Bookmark the AI at Work roadmap, filter to Power Automate, turn on RSS or export if you use it, and put a 15-minute monthly check on your calendar before you invest in a multi-stage approval or onboarding design that a near-term platform feature might cover.
