Microsoft adds searchable Data Grid control to Power Apps

Microsoft adds searchable Data Grid control to Power Apps

The May 2026 Power Platform release introduced a new Data Grid control for Power Apps. It supports searchable rows, sortable columns, and multi-row selection using the same Fluent UI design language already found in Teams and Outlook. Early community testing shows the control works with standard data sources but does not yet support attachment columns from Dataverse. Row virtualization is scheduled for a later update. The change arrived as a preview feature with no additional licensing required for users who already have Power Apps included in their Microsoft 365 plans.

Before this update, makers who wanted a clean table view in their apps had to rely on the older gallery control or build custom layouts with repeating sections. Both approaches required extra work to add sorting and search, and neither offered built-in multi-row selection. The new grid reduces that manual effort, yet it still leaves untouched the core reliability problems these users face: flows that stop without warning, missing error messages, and the absence of any monitoring that tells them when an automation has failed.

Analysis

Ignore the new grid until you have fixed the flows you already depend on. Spend the next hour adding a simple error-handling branch and a daily run-history check to the three most critical automations in your environment.
