UK charity completes full Microsoft 365 Copilot rollout with custom governance controls
Scope, a UK disability charity, finished deploying Microsoft 365 Copilot to all staff in May 2026. The rollout was done with Microsoft and Phoenix and included Entra Defender Sentinel plus more than 640 custom AI agents. The organisation set up defined governance rules, ethical standards, data access controls, output reviews, logging and audits. It now processes over 26,560 prompts each month and reports better accessibility for staff with disabilities. The deployment came after Scope first replaced its old fragmented systems and outdated hardware. Training ran through in-person sessions, virtual classes and recorded materials.
Before this kind of rollout, most mid-sized organisations still treat Copilot as an optional add-on that a few power users experiment with while the rest of the tenant stays untouched. Permissions and content sprawl remain someone else's problem until a breach or audit forces action. Once every employee has an agent that can read across Teams and SharePoint, the old assumption that abandoned sites and loose external access can be cleaned up later no longer holds. Governance must be built into the deployment from day one or the same sites that already confuse users will feed the AI with stale, risky data.
