Teams web app moves to teams.cloud.microsoft by end of September

Microsoft is redirecting the Teams web client from teams.microsoft.com to teams.cloud.microsoft as part of moving first-party Microsoft 365 sign-in experiences onto the cloud.microsoft domain. Features stay the same. Existing bookmarks and links keep working through redirects. Enterprise rollout for remaining tenants is due to finish by the end of September 2026. A temporary tenant control that lets admins turn the redirect off is retired from 1 January 2027, after a hard end date of 31 December 2026. Consumer Teams on teams.live.com is unchanged. Microsoft still monitors traffic on both domains during the cutover and asks organisations to allow network access to *.cloud.microsoft and to refresh internal documentation.
Until now, many tenants could treat teams.microsoft.com as the stable web entry point. Help articles, intranet buttons, conditional access notes, and proxy rules often still name that host. A temporary admin switch also let you pause the redirect if something broke on the new domain. That pause button goes away after 2026. The product does not change, but anything that blocks or hard-codes the old host becomes a support problem you cannot defer with a tenant toggle. For a small admin team, the real cost is ticket noise and stale guidance, not a new Teams feature set.
Analysis
This is a hygiene change to finish before the disable control disappears, not a sprawl or Copilot project. Confirm outbound access to *.cloud.microsoft on your proxy or firewall, then search the intranet and admin runbooks for permanent teams.microsoft.com links and update the ones users actually click.
