Teams phone app must be updated or mobile calendar stops working

Microsoft says Teams on iOS and Android will lose Calendar access unless the app is updated by early October 2026. Older builds stop showing the calendar and related meeting access on the phone. The floor is iOS 8.9.0 (build 8.9.77.2026092302) or higher and Android 1416/1.0.0.2026122504 or higher. Desktop and web Teams calendars are unchanged. The cutover lines up with Exchange Web Services changes starting 1 October 2026. Microsoft refreshed the Message Center note on 31 July 2026 and told admins to push updates and warn users. Store auto-update will cover many phones. Managed devices need deliberate policy.
Until now, an ageing Teams install on your phone still opened the calendar, so meeting times, join links, and quick schedule checks worked even when the laptop was closed. That quiet reliability let people treat mobile Teams as a thin layer over the same day, not a separate tool that could fail without warning. After the deadline, an unupdated phone simply drops calendar. You still get chat and channels, but the piece that ties meetings to the rest of the day goes dark. For anyone who already juggles inbox triage, Teams noise, and scattered follow-ups, that is one more place work can disappear between devices instead of staying connected.

This is a change to act on before early October, not a new feature to learn. Open Teams on your phone today, check the version against the floors above, update from the App Store or Play Store if you are behind, and send one short note to your team so their work phones do the same before calendar access fails mid-week.
