Teams lets organizers delete meeting recap content

Microsoft updated Teams so meeting organizers can delete meeting-generated recap content from the recap page. The deletion can remove recordings, transcripts, AI summaries and notes, while shared files remain in their original locations. The Message Center archive says the feature is enabled by default and requires no admin setup.
Before this, recap content often acted like the default memory for a meeting: recording, transcript, notes and AI summary stayed available unless someone managed the underlying files or retention rules. Now one organizer action can permanently remove supported recap content. For SharePoint and Teams admins, that means meeting governance needs a practical rule for when recaps are deleted, what must be copied into a durable task or decision record first, and how helpdesk guidance explains that shared files are not removed.
Analysis
Update your Teams meeting guidance with one simple rule: decisions and actions must leave the recap before anyone deletes it. Point organizers to the task list, project page or record location that should survive the recap cleanup.
