Teams meetings can send tasks into an existing Planner plan

Microsoft is adding a way to link a Teams meeting to a Planner plan you already use. Tasks created in the meeting, including ones from Facilitator, can go into that plan instead of a fresh one. If nobody picks a plan, behaviour stays as today: the meeting still spins up a new Planner plan by default. The change is on by default where Teams, Planner, and Loop are enabled. Rollout is aimed at late September through October 2026 after a Message Center timeline update (MC1392571).
Until now, project work often lived in one Planner board while each meeting quietly created another plan for notes and actions. Follow-ups then sat beside the real project list, so the same work showed up in chat, flags, To Do, and yet another board nobody opened again. After this ships, a recurring or project meeting can feed the plan the team already trusts. That only helps if someone chooses the plan on purpose. Leave the default alone and you still get plan sprawl. The feature reduces scatter only when meeting setup and task ownership already point at one shared plan.
Analysis
Treat this as a setup change to act on when it appears, not a reason to reorganise every task tool. For each recurring project meeting, name the single Planner plan that should own actions, and make selecting that plan part of the meeting checklist so Facilitator and manual tasks stop creating orphan boards.
