Teams highlight videos now work in 23 languages

Microsoft is expanding Teams Video recap, the Copilot feature that turns a recorded meeting into a short narrated highlight clip. Message Center notice MC1479506, published 25 September 2026, says support now covers 23 languages and 31 locale variants, including English, Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic, and several others. Worldwide rollout was due to start and finish in late September 2026. After a meeting, people with a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence can open Recap from meeting chat or the calendar and pick Video recap instead of watching the full recording. It only works if the meeting was recorded and transcribed, and if it lasted between 10 and 90 minutes. It does not replace notes, transcripts, or a task list.
Until now, catching up after a missed Teams call usually meant the full recording, a transcript, or a colleague's half-finished notes. That was slow in English and almost useless when the meeting ran in another language you do not process at speed. The change is language coverage, not a new meeting system. If your company already pays for Copilot and records calls, a 20-minute recap clip can replace an hour of playback. Actions still scatter unless someone puts them in To Do, Planner, or an Outlook flag after watching.
Analysis
Treat this as a catch-up aid, not a follow-up system. After your next recorded 10 to 90 minute meeting, open Recap once, try Video recap if you have Copilot, then move any real actions into the same place you already trust for tasks.
