Teams Events app now lets organizers save setups as templates

Microsoft added template support to the Teams Events app. Organizers can now save event settings and reuse them for similar meetings instead of starting from scratch each time. The change rolled out in the week of 18 June 2026. It only works inside the Events app and requires organizer permissions. No other Teams meeting types gained this capability.
Before this update, anyone running repeated large events spent minutes re-entering the same audience settings, registration forms, and recording options. The friction was small but constant for frequent hosts. Now the setup step shrinks for those specific users, yet the downstream problem of scattered notes, missing action items, and follow-up that never happens stays untouched. Most knowledge workers never touch the Events app anyway.
Analysis
Skip the template feature. It solves a problem you do not have. Instead, pick one recurring meeting this week and make its owner create a single Planner plan that every attendee can see and update after the call.
