Teams drops Together mode for simpler Gallery meetings

Microsoft says Together mode in Teams will no longer be available from June 30, 2026. The Together mode toggle, scenes, custom scenes, and seat assignments will be retired, while modern Gallery becomes the simpler meeting layout focus.
Together mode was a pandemic-era attempt to make remote meetings feel more human. For most workers, though, Teams meetings now need reliability, clear speaker focus, and less hunting through view options. This change matters because it removes a familiar option and pushes users toward Gallery features such as pinning, spotlighting, and branded backgrounds. Teams champions will need to explain the replacement before people discover it in the middle of a meeting.
Analysis
Update any meeting guidance that mentions Together mode. Replace it with a short Gallery playbook: pin key speakers, spotlight presenters, and use approved branded backgrounds where needed.
