Teams adds tighter controls for federated group chats

The current Teams PowerShell module adds controls for stricter external access and mutual federation policies in federated group chats. The new controls sit alongside a move to Windows Account Manager authentication in the module, so admins should test their module environment before changing policy.
External chat often grows one practical conversation at a time, while its policy remains broad and hard to explain. More targeted federation controls give administrators a way to narrow risk without treating every outside tenant as the same case.\n\nThis is still a PowerShell-led change, not a reason to switch settings blindly. Authentication changes and coexistence with other Microsoft 365 modules make a controlled test more valuable than an urgent production rollout.
Analysis
Review which external tenants and users genuinely need federated chat. Test the current Teams module and the new restrictions in a non-production policy path before changing tenant-wide access.
