SharePoint's AI web parts need a governance check before they hit your intranet

Laura Rogers published a practical July 20, 2026 walkthrough of the AI web parts now appearing in SharePoint: Chart, Agent Link, and FAQ. The post tests how Chart can be created from prompts or files, how Agent Link places an existing SharePoint agent on a page, and how FAQ can draft questions and answers from source content.
Before this, SharePoint page owners already had to manage intranet pages as official surfaces: reports needed refresh rules, policy answers needed owners, and FAQs needed someone to keep them current. The AI category lowers the effort needed to add charts, agents, and generated FAQs, but it also raises the review bar. A chart can look like reporting without behaving like a live Power BI dashboard, an Agent Link can expose a governed chat surface that needs the right licence setup, and an AI-generated FAQ still needs a named owner before readers treat it as business truth.
Analysis
Pick one low-risk intranet or project page and test the three web parts separately. For each one, write down the owner, licence requirement, source content, refresh or review rule, and fallback path. If the page is meant to provide official reporting, policy, or compliance guidance, do not publish the AI output until a named owner has checked it.
