Shared mailbox meetings can lose recordings without licensing

A Microsoft 365 specialist explains that Teams meetings can be scheduled from a shared mailbox through classic Outlook when the delegate has full access. The important catch is that recordings and transcripts are stored in that organiser account’s OneDrive, which creates a retention risk if the mailbox is unlicensed.
A shared mailbox can look like a tidy neutral owner for a recurring meeting, especially when several coordinators cover the same event. But the file location still matters: a recording that lands in an unlicensed organiser account is not a dependable long-term record.\n\nThe practical issue is ownership, not just meeting creation. Teams need a deliberate place and licensed account for recordings, transcripts and any material people may need after the organiser has moved on.

List the shared mailboxes that organise recorded Teams meetings. For each one, check where recordings land and decide whether a licensed organiser account or a different meeting pattern is safer.
