Power Apps turns phone receipts into reviewed accounting records

Power Apps practitioner Shane Young published a complete mobile receipt-organizer build on 6 August 2026. The app creates trips, scans receipts from a phone, uses AI to extract key details, lets the user review them and sends the approved information to Accounting.
Receipt apps often fail at the handoff: a scan is captured, but the traveller still has to rename files, type totals and chase the finance team. That turns a promising app into another inbox for unfinished admin. This build is useful because it treats AI extraction as a draft that needs review, then carries the checked result into the next business step. For a Power Apps maker, that is a reusable pattern for invoices, expenses and other document-led workflows.

Map the four states your receipt app needs—captured, extracted, reviewed and submitted—before copying the screens. Keep a visible correction step between AI extraction and the Accounting handoff.
