Power Apps model-driven apps can now be called by AI agents

Power Mates published a technical walkthrough showing how an MCP server can turn model-driven apps into callable tools for agents such as Microsoft Copilot and Claude. The setup requires a model-driven app structure plus MCP server configuration. Canvas apps and SharePoint lists are not covered. The change lets an agent trigger app logic without a human opening the screen.
Until now model-driven apps were mainly human interfaces that sat on Dataverse. Builders treated them as a separate track from the SharePoint canvas apps most teams start with. The new link turns those apps into machine-callable components. For readers still fighting delegation warnings and slow galleries on SharePoint, this capability sits several layers above their current stack and licensing.
Analysis
Skip the MCP server work and the model-driven detour. Spend the next sprint confirming your existing canvas app returns complete results past 200 records and renders in under three seconds on a phone; if it fails either test, fix the data calls before adding any agent layer.
