Power Apps AI can fill forms from documents and build pages from plain English

Power Apps AI can fill forms from documents and build pages from plain English

Microsoft Mechanics posted short demos on 21–22 July 2026 showing new AI features inside Power Apps. Drop a resume or other document onto the Form Fill Assist toolbar and the app can populate candidate fields automatically. Makers turn the feature on with a single toggle in app settings. The same wave of clips shows Generative Pages, where a natural-language prompt creates screens with map controls, filtered lists, and click-to-assign actions. Another demo builds a working model-driven app from existing Dataverse, SharePoint, or SQL data in under a minute, including screens, navigation, and forms, plus options to embed Copilot for data questions and surface Copilot Studio agents in an in-app feed. These are official product demos. Licensing, environment setup, data-source support, and whether each piece is generally available still depend on the tenant and release channel. Generated pages and field mappings still need human review before production use.

Until now, most internal makers spent the first stretch of a project hand-building forms, galleries, and navigation against SharePoint or another list, then fighting layout and formula details so the app looked usable. Document intake meant typing or brittle copy-paste. Starting from a blank canvas was slow even when the process itself was simple. These demos shift the bottleneck. The first form and first page can appear in seconds, which is useful, but the hard part moves to checking what the AI assumed: field mapping, data source choice, filters, permissions, and whether a model-driven shell is even what your team will open every day. Speed at generation does not remove delegation limits, mobile layout work, or the need to understand the formulas you ship.

Analysis

Treat this as a prototype accelerator, not a finished app. In a test environment, enable Form Fill Assist on one real form that already matches a document your team receives, drop a sample file, and walk every populated field against the source before you show it to anyone else.
