OpenAI lowers GPT-5.6 prices for repeatable enterprise work

OpenAI says GPT-5.6 Luna now costs 80% less and GPT-5.6 Terra costs 20% less, with the changes also reflected in paid-subscription usage for Codex and ChatGPT Work. The company positions Luna for high-volume work and Terra for everyday tasks.
When AI work was expensive, a team could justify using it only for occasional high-value tasks. Lower unit prices can make repeatable work viable, but they do not reduce the effort needed to define inputs, review outputs, and own the result. The practical bottleneck therefore moves from “can we afford a run?” to “which routine deserves a reusable process?” A cheaper model can amplify a vague workflow just as efficiently as a clear one, so cost savings are only meaningful when quality checks are already specified.
