Older Windows devices lose OneDrive update support this month

Microsoft updated the OneDrive Sync release notes on 27 July to say that, from 15 August 2026, devices running Windows 10 before version 22H2 will remain on their installed OneDrive version and will not receive later releases. Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 remain the supported client baseline for new OneDrive sync releases.
A SharePoint file experience can look healthy until an older desktop client stops receiving reliability or compatibility fixes. This is a device-support issue, not a SharePoint site setting, so it can slip between endpoint and collaboration teams. The deadline makes the next endpoint inventory useful: administrators can identify devices below Windows 10 22H2 before a sync incident becomes harder to diagnose. It also gives support teams a clear answer when an affected client cannot receive a current fix.
Analysis
Before 15 August, ask endpoint management for a list of devices below Windows 10 22H2 that run OneDrive. Put the upgrade or support exception beside your existing OneDrive sync-health process.
