Notion now lets Claude edit pages inside your workspace

Notion released an External Agents API on May 17 that lets Claude and similar models join workspaces as named participants. The agents can read and edit pages and databases once granted access. The feature is currently in early access. Permissions must be set manually for each workspace and cannot be managed centrally yet. No custom code is required to connect Claude Workspace through the new API.
Until now teams kept AI work in separate windows or copied content back and forth. That friction forced people to stay in control of what left the system. The new setup removes that friction. Agents now operate inside the same pages where decisions and records live, which means one mis-set permission can expose entire project histories without anyone noticing until later.
Analysis
Treat every workspace as a potential leak until proven otherwise. Start with one low-risk project, grant Claude read-only access only, and run it for a full week before widening permissions.
