Microsoft updates whitepaper on governing Copilot agents
Microsoft has released version 3.2 of its Administering and Governing Agents whitepaper. The update covers the new Agent Store, Microsoft Agent 365 onboarding, and zone-based governance split into personal, team, and enterprise levels. New features include sharing controls, owner reassignment tools, and terminology updates for clarity. The guide structures oversight around policy, process, and people pillars to manage agent lifecycles. It has been downloaded more than 65,000 times, reflecting demand from admins scaling agent use.
Before this, agent governance felt like a black box. Mid-sized teams hesitated to build or share agents due to data exposure risks, with 73% of regulated firms pausing rollouts until Purview was perfect. IT chased vague policies, leaving users like you stuck with manual work or sneaking to ChatGPT. Now the zoned model draws clear lines: personal agents stay sandboxed, team ones get controlled sharing, enterprise demands full audit. This scales safely without overhauling your setup, turning governance from a stall tactic into a quick ramp for HR or meeting agents that actually deliver.
Analysis
This whitepaper kills the 'governance later' excuse that's tanking your team's 4% adoption. Download it today, zone one simple meeting recap agent as 'personal', build it in Copilot Studio, and demo the output in your next Teams huddle – that's your proof Copilot beats ChatGPT for company-safe work.
