SharePoint Server June fixes arrive through Microsoft Update

Microsoft SharePoint expert Stefan Goßner published the June 2026 SharePoint Server security fixes on June 9, 2026. The post lists fixes for supported SharePoint Server versions and says the updates are offered through Microsoft Update. It also flags a known September 2025 CU permissions issue that can cause installations to fail unless corrected first.
Many small Microsoft 365 teams still have one or two on-premises SharePoint farms left behind by an intranet, workflow, or archive project. Those farms may not get daily attention, but they still need patch sequencing and ownership. The June fixes are routine security maintenance, yet the installation warning matters. Admins who treat SharePoint Server patching as a quick Windows Update task can still hit failed installs if the farm is sitting on the affected September 2025 CU state.
Analysis
Before applying the June fixes, check the farm’s current patch level and owner. If it is on the September 2025 CU path, plan the permissions correction first and record who validates the farm after patching.
