Microsoft introduced Scout, an always-on personal work agent that connects across Teams, Outlook, OneDrive and SharePoint.

Microsoft announced Scout at Build 2026 as its first Autopilot agent for work. Scout is designed to stay active in the background, use Work IQ context, help with meeting preparation, scheduling, upcoming deliverables and stalled decisions, and operate under enterprise controls.
For busy Microsoft 365 workers, Copilot has mostly depended on users knowing when to ask, what to ask and how to turn the answer into follow-up work. Scout points to a more background-driven model that could reduce coordination drag. It also changes the adoption question from 'what prompt should I use?' to 'which background actions would I actually trust an agent to take?'
Analysis
Make a short trust list: three tasks Scout could safely suggest, and three tasks where it should never act without you confirming first.
