Microsoft rolls back Copilot web-domain exclusion control

Microsoft has rolled back the Domain Exclusion control it had announced for Microsoft 365 Copilot web grounding. The update says Microsoft is evaluating next steps, so adoption teams cannot currently rely on that control to exclude selected websites from Copilot responses.
A pilot can be designed around a control that exists in an announcement but is not actually available in the tenant. If the pilot’s safety or quality plan assumes that selected web domains can be excluded, the rollout now has an untested gap rather than a finished policy. This does not mean web grounding is automatically unsafe or that every Copilot pilot must stop. It means the team should separate the controls it can verify today from the controls it hopes Microsoft will return later, and communicate that distinction to users.
Analysis
Review any Copilot pilot guidance that names Domain Exclusion as a safeguard. Replace it with the controls your tenant can verify now, and log the rollback as an assumption to revisit.
