Microsoft retires SharePoint Page Agent from mid-October

Microsoft will retire the SharePoint Page Agent, a Frontier preview that turned Microsoft 365 Copilot chats into draft pages and news posts. The change starts in mid-October 2026 and finishes by mid-November 2026, according to Message Center item MC1481325 published on 29 September 2026. Authors will no longer start new pages or news posts through that agent. Pages and news already created stay on their sites with the same permissions and lifecycle rules. Microsoft says no content migration is required. Eligible users can still create and refine pages and news with Copilot in SharePoint. The retirement covers Frontier Page Agent interactions only.
Until now, a small set of Copilot users could draft intranet pages from a chat without opening the SharePoint page editor. That path was preview, easy to miss in training, and easy to treat as the official way to publish news. After mid-November that chat-to-page shortcut is gone. The pages themselves are not going anywhere, so the real work is author habits, not cleanup. If Copilot in SharePoint is already licensed, this is a training note. If it is not, authors lose a draft path they may have assumed would last.
Analysis
This is a change to watch, not a sprawl or permissions fire. Check Message Center MC1481325 against who actually used Page Agent, then send those authors one note: new pages and news go through Copilot in SharePoint after mid-October, existing pages stay put.
