Microsoft plans deeper Power Platform links for Business Central ERP
Microsoft has detailed features for Dynamics 365 Business Central's 2026 release wave 1, due between April and September. The update centres on closer integration with Power Apps, Power Automate and Copilot Studio to create seamless experiences. New Copilot agents and custom AI tools will automate routine ERP tasks inside the system.
Citizen developers have long jury-rigged Power Apps on top of ERP data using SharePoint lists as a workaround. This led to slow galleries, delegation warnings at 2000 items and clunky formulas like Filter on non-native sources. Native ties now pipe Business Central data straight into canvas apps, cutting Patch complexity for approvals and reports. For the first time, low-code extensions feel built-in rather than bolted-on, opening ERP customisation to non-devs without premium hurdles.
