Microsoft Adds Power BI Embedding to Model-Driven Apps

The May 2026 Power Platform update adds the ability to place Power BI reports directly onto the main forms of model-driven apps. Makers can drag the report control into grid cells without writing custom code. The change rolled out gradually and reached general availability in mid-May. It works inside existing model-driven app environments. No new licensing is required beyond current Power BI and Power Platform subscriptions.
Before this update, teams kept Power BI dashboards and model-driven apps in separate windows. Users switched between tools or accepted that interactive visuals lived outside the main business process. Now the same report can sit inside the form where people already work. The integration lowers friction for users who already live in model-driven apps, but it also raises the stakes for anyone whose underlying data model is still a tangle of Excel exports and undocumented Power Query steps.
Analysis
Do not let your team embed anything until the data layer is documented and the refresh is reliable. Push for a single, version-controlled data model that both the app and the report can trust before you connect the two.
