Planner agent reaches Microsoft 365 Copilot in June

Microsoft Message Center item MC1323264 says the Planner agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is generally available worldwide, with rollout running from mid to late June 2026. Users with an active Microsoft 365 Copilot licence can create, view and update personal tasks and shared basic plans from Copilot. Suggested task changes appear in interactive task cards that users review and confirm before they are applied.
Before this rollout, task updates in Planner usually required opening Planner, Teams, or the relevant plan directly. That friction gave users a natural pause before changing live task data. The Planner agent lowers that friction and gives Copilot a route into day-to-day task management. That can help teams move faster, but only if they agree what Copilot is allowed to change and what still needs a human check.
Analysis
Run the Planner agent on one non-critical plan for two weeks and log every suggested change. Keep it away from live client or delivery plans until the review habit is boring and repeatable.
