Planner Agent reaches general availability for Copilot users

Microsoft announced on 15 June 2026 that Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is rolling out to general availability for users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence. The agent can find plans, create and update tasks, organise work around goals, and show AI-generated changes as drafts for users to review before they are finalised. Microsoft says the agent works across Microsoft 365 apps including Teams, Loop, and SharePoint.
Before this release, a lot of task capture still depended on someone moving meeting notes, email follow-ups, and chat decisions into Planner by hand. That manual step was annoying, but it also forced a human to decide which plan was the source of truth. Planner Agent lowers the friction, so task creation can happen inside Copilot faster. For productivity workers, the risk is not that Copilot creates tasks badly; it is that the team still has no shared review habit for deciding which tasks belong in Planner, To Do, Loop, or an email follow-up.
Analysis
Test Planner Agent on one active project only. At the end of each day, compare the agent-created drafts with the team’s existing task list and keep it only if fewer actions are missed or duplicated.
