Microsoft Graph adds recovery snapshots for Entra directory objects

Microsoft’s August Graph update adds a recovery resource and related operations for critical Microsoft Entra directory objects. Administrators can inspect available point-in-time snapshots, preview and scope changes, run recovery jobs, monitor progress and review failed changes.
When a directory object is deleted or changed incorrectly, the operational problem is rarely just the object itself. It can mean a rushed manual rebuild, uncertain downstream access effects and weak evidence of what the recovery will alter before an admin presses ahead. The new Graph surface gives tenant teams a more deliberate recovery path for the automation they build around Entra. It does not remove the need for permissions, change control or testing, but it makes previewing the recovery scope and recording failures part of the available workflow rather than an afterthought.

Add one recovery scenario to your Entra automation runbook, then test the snapshot preview and scope checks in a non-production environment before you rely on a recovery job for a real incident.
