Microsoft measures Copilot use by weekly habit

Microsoft’s AI adoption category in Adoption Score now measures whether licensed Copilot users take intentional actions on at least 12 of the previous 28 days, equivalent to about three days a week. The guidance was materially updated on 18 August and covers use across Microsoft 365 apps and agents.
Licence assignment and a single successful demo can make an AI rollout look healthier than it feels to the people doing the work. A repeat-use measure gives adoption leads a clearer signal: whether Copilot has become part of a normal working rhythm, rather than a one-off experiment. The score should not become a target in isolation. It is most useful alongside the app-level patterns and user feedback Microsoft exposes, so you can see where habit is forming and where a workflow, training example, or access condition is still getting in the way.
Analysis
In the Microsoft 365 admin center, open Reports > Adoption Score and review the AI adoption details for one licensed group. Pair its 28-day activity pattern with a short user question about the specific task they still avoid using Copilot for.
