Microsoft extends Power BI Q&A retirement to February 2027

Microsoft updated its Power BI Q&A retirement plan on 10 September 2026, moving the end date from December 2026 to February 2027. From February, Q&A visuals stop working and show errors; Copilot is now available from Fabric F2 capacity, but Microsoft says there is no planned direct Copilot replacement for embedded platform-as-a-service Q&A and sovereign clouds still lack Copilot support.
Power BI Q&A may sit quietly inside reports, dashboards, mobile experiences and embedded applications, so owners can underestimate how many user journeys depend on it. A retirement that removes the visual is a service break, not merely a change to authoring tools. The extension buys time, but it also exposes uneven migration choices. Teams on embedded analytics or sovereign clouds cannot assume Copilot is a drop-in replacement, while other teams still need to validate cost, capacity, semantic-model quality and user behaviour before switching.
Analysis
Inventory Q&A visuals, dashboard Q&A, mobile use, embedded integrations and Q&A Setup artefacts now. Assign each dependency a tested replacement path and owner before February 2027.
