Microsoft ends Power Platform release waves and moves the roadmap to AI at Work

Microsoft will stop publishing separate Dynamics 365, Power Platform, and Dataverse release plans from September 2026. New capabilities will appear on the AI at Work roadmap instead, as a single place to track business apps, productivity tools, and AI features. Release Planner retires on 15 November 2026. The usual September 2026 Release Wave 2 announcement will not happen. Existing plans stay online only as history. Fall 2026 moves over items whose preview or general availability falls on or after 1 June 2026. The new model is continuous. Microsoft says customers can filter the roadmap, export CSV, use RSS, and access it through an MCP server, while still warning that delivery dates can change.
Until now, many internal builders planned around twice-yearly wave pages. Those pages were imperfect, but they gave a clear season for canvas app, SharePoint, Copilot, and Automate changes without hunting across product blogs. You could skim Wave 1 or Wave 2 and decide whether a gallery fix, modern control, or AI starter was near enough to wait for. That rhythm ends. Power Apps updates will sit inside a broader AI at Work list aimed at admins and adoption planners across Microsoft 365. For someone shipping SharePoint-backed trackers, the useful signal is still there, but it is easier to miss among unrelated AI and productivity items unless you filter hard. Roadmap dates remain non-promises, so the real shift is process: continuous scanning replaces the old wave calendar.
Analysis
Treat this as a planning habit change, not a reason to rebuild anything. Open the AI at Work roadmap, filter to Power Apps, export or subscribe once, and check that filtered view before you tell your manager a Copilot, gallery, or approval feature is coming next quarter.
