Microsoft ends free AI Builder credits in Power Apps licences this November

Microsoft is removing the seeded AI Builder credits that ship inside premium Power Apps licences on 1 November 2026. AI Builder capacity add-ons already stopped selling on 1 November 2025. Features such as form processing and object detection keep working, but they will draw Copilot Credits instead of the old included pool. Copilot Studio message packs are listed around $200 a month for 25,000 Copilot Credits, with pay-as-you-go as a backup. Power Apps Premium is still framed near $20 per user per month, lower at large seat counts. Unused credits generally do not roll over, and how fast a feature burns credits depends on the model.
For a long stretch, a canvas app or approval flow could call AI Builder without a separate line item. That made document extraction and similar helpers feel like free extras on top of SharePoint lists, galleries, and Power Automate. Pilots stayed cheap because the licence already carried a quiet credit cushion. After the cutoff, those same steps become metered. A small internal tool that worked fine in a demo can start a monthly bill, or fail when nobody bought credits. The shift is not that AI left the platform. It is that AI inside apps and flows stops being an invisible perk and becomes something you must count, fund, or redesign around.
Analysis
Treat this as a trap to avoid, not a reason to rush into message packs. Open every app and flow you own, list any AI Builder steps (form processing, object detection, and similar), and for each one decide before November whether the team will pay Copilot Credits, replace it with a normal form or manual check, or retire it.
