Microsoft Edge Beta lets Copilot answer in the address bar

Edge Beta version 149.0.4022.24 adds a policy called CopilotAddressBarSuggestionsEnabled. When turned on, the browser shows Copilot-generated answers directly in the address bar. A second change unifies several Copilot Chat policies under one control. Admins can now also let M365 Copilot use approved work browsing history to improve search ranking inside Microsoft 365. Both features require explicit admin approval and are limited to the Beta channel for now.
Until now, Copilot lived in its own pane or sidebar. Adding suggestions to the address bar moves it into the single place most people type first, turning every URL into a potential query. The browsing-history option sounds helpful until you remember these readers already lose time to scattered results across email, Teams, and SharePoint. Feeding more data into the same ranking engine risks pushing low-value pages higher without fixing the underlying search problems they face daily.
Analysis
Block both policies in the tenant today. Do not enable address-bar suggestions or browsing-history sharing until you test whether the new results actually reduce the time spent hunting for the right document.
