Microsoft aims to put forms and approvals inside Copilot in October

Microsoft said Copilot UX components are on track for general availability in October 2026 for customers worldwide, alongside SharePoint Framework 1.24. Public preview is already open. The components can show charts, maps, KPIs, forms, approvals, and live business data in the Microsoft 365 Copilot canvas, either inline or full screen. SharePoint Framework 1.24 Beta 5 shipped in September 2026 with Copilot UX preview updates and React 18 support. This is a SharePoint Framework capability, not a new control in Power Apps Studio. As of 30 September 2026, October remains a target, not a finished shipment, and preview quality issues were still being worked in beta.
Until now, a request tracker lived in a canvas app, a SharePoint list, and maybe a Power Automate approval. Users had to open the app. Copilot was a chat box, not a place to fill a form or tap Approve. If October lands as planned, the same kinds of forms and approvals can appear inside Copilot itself. That does not replace your gallery, Patch formulas, or list permissions. It does mean colleagues may start asking why they cannot complete the process in chat, while you still own the data, the flow, and the app that has to stay correct.
Analysis
Treat this as a trend to watch, not a reason to learn SharePoint Framework or abandon the canvas app. Before anyone asks for a Copilot version of your tracker, write down which SharePoint list and which approval flow are the source of truth, so a chat form cannot create a second, unofficial path.
