Copilot Notebooks now reach Copilot Chat users

Microsoft said on 11 June 2026 that Copilot Notebooks is rolling out to Copilot Chat users, making shared notebook collaboration available in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app and OneNote. Copilot Chat users can add standard sources such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook items, ask questions across them, and use mind maps and study guides. Microsoft 365 Copilot users still get premium sources and premium AI capabilities.
Before this update, persistent AI workspaces were mainly a premium Copilot habit. Most knowledge workers already had tasks, notes and follow-up scattered across Outlook, Teams, To Do, Planner, Loop and OneNote. Now more people can create shared AI notebooks, which is useful only if the team has clear rules for what belongs there. Without that habit, the notebook becomes another place where actions and decisions hide.
Analysis
Use a shared notebook only for one project with a named owner and a weekly review slot. Keep actions in To Do or Planner, not inside the notebook conversation.
