Microsoft adds reusable process instructions for Dataverse AI agents

Microsoft published preview docs for Business skills in Dataverse. These are natural-language writeups of how work gets done—steps, rules, and policies—so AI agents can find and follow them at runtime. Each skill has three parts: metadata for discovery, the full process instructions, and optional attached resources such as templates or policy files. Skills are solution-aware objects, so they can move across environments like other Dataverse components. They are not runnable code. Availability depends on Dataverse intelligence being turned on, and access follows normal Dataverse security roles. Microsoft marks the feature as preview and not intended for production.
Until now, most makers who tried AI helpers ended up stuffing process rules into one-off prompts, Copilot chats, or scattered docs. That meant every agent or app surface could interpret the same approval path or policy differently, and updates lived wherever someone last pasted the text. Business skills pull that knowledge into a single governed Dataverse object agents can reuse. Change the skill once and every agent that relies on it can pick up the new guidance. For SharePoint-first canvas builders, the catch is clear: this lives on Dataverse with intelligence enabled, so it does not automatically improve a list-backed tracker or a fragile Filter formula today.
Analysis
Treat this as a watch item, not a build mandate. Take one internal process you already understand—leave requests, asset checkouts, or expense routing—and draft it as a plain skill outline offline, then check with your admin whether Dataverse intelligence is even available before you touch a production app.
