Microsoft adds Copilot to Power Apps and an InfoPath migration tool

The May 2026 Power Platform release brings Copilot assistance directly into the canvas editor. It can generate screens, suggest formulas, and convert existing InfoPath forms into Power Apps. The update also includes AI-assisted modernization features for older apps and tighter integration between Power Apps and Power Automate. Availability varies: some capabilities are in preview, others reach general availability this month.
Until now the platform rewarded people who already understood data shapes and delegation rules. Copilot lowers the starting cost but does not remove those constraints. Teams that treat the new AI output as finished work will hit the same 2,000-item wall and slow galleries that have always existed. Those who first clean their SharePoint lists and define clear data models will see the real productivity gain.
Analysis
Before you let Copilot generate anything, open every SharePoint list you intend to use and confirm it stays under 2,000 items with simple column types. If it does not, fix the list first. Copilot will not warn you.
