Microsoft adds Copilot pane to Power Apps for data tasks and actions
Microsoft has integrated a Copilot AI pane into model-driven Power Apps. This type of app handles structured business data like customer records or sales leads. The pane summarizes data, generates charts, reviews record changes over time, and lets AI agents start Microsoft 365 tasks such as creating documents or adding calendar events. All this happens without leaving the app screen. The feature is part of the March 2026 Power Platform release. It needs a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence and administrator setup.
Power Apps model-driven screens showed data cleanly but stopped there. Users had to copy details into Word, Excel or Outlook separately, breaking workflow each time. Copilot changes that by linking data views directly to actions through AI prompts. A sales record now turns into a draft proposal or meeting invite in seconds, all in context, which cuts the mental switch between tools that slows most business processes.
Analysis
Log into your Power Platform environment, open a model-driven app, and look for the Copilot pane icon. If it is not there, check your admin centre for the required licence setup.
