Microsoft adds admin controls for Copilot agents

Copilot Studio now includes centralized governance tools. Admins can set visibility rules and connect agents to Microsoft Purview for compliance tracking. The update requires admin setup and compatible licensing. Without those, the new controls stay inactive. Microsoft says the changes reduce the chance of agents breaking company policy.
Before this update most mid-sized firms bought Copilot licences but left agent features untouched because IT had no way to monitor what an agent could access or say. Users stayed away to avoid accidental data leaks. Now the technical barrier is lower, yet the practical barrier remains the same: someone still has to turn the controls on and document the rules. Most companies will not do that work without pressure from users who actually want to build agents.
Analysis
Stop treating governance as someone else's problem. Ask your admin to enable Purview integration for Copilot Studio this week and test one low-risk agent in a sandbox site before the budget review.
