Meta sets September and October deadlines to kill older ads APIs

Meta is forcing another API cutover. Graph API v20.0 is removed on 24 September 2026. Marketing API v24.0 sunsets on 6 October 2026. Related stacks follow in the same window. Embedded Signup v2 and v3 move toward deprecation with a v4 migration by 15 October 2026. The Commerce Order Management API sunsets on 27 October 2026. Separately, location fees already apply from 1 July 2026 on impressions delivered in listed countries: 2% in the UK, 3% in France, Italy and Spain, and 5% in Austria and Türkiye, billed as separate line items by impression country.
For a long stretch, paid Meta acquisition could sit behind a thin automation layer. A solo founder could launch creatives from Ads Manager, a bulk uploader, a CLI, or an AI agent wrapper and treat the pipe as stable background infrastructure. Version lag was someone else's problem until the next quiet breakage. That assumption is expiring on a calendar. If any part of your funnel depends on older Marketing or Graph endpoints, bulk publishers, agent connectors, or commerce order hooks, those paths can fail in October rather than degrade politely. At the same time, EU-facing spend can look slightly more expensive in reporting because location fees land as extra line items on delivered impressions, not as a simple CPM tweak you notice in creative testing alone.
Analysis
This is a dependency check, not a reason to rebuild your whole acquisition stack. List every tool that creates, duplicates, or reports Meta ads for you, confirm it already supports the current Marketing API path before the October sunsets, and if you buy into the fee countries, pull one recent invoice and see the location fee as its own line so your true CPA math stays honest.
