Gateway update adds diagnostics and exposes refresh risks

Microsoft released the June 2026 on-premises data gateway update, version 3000.322, on 25 June 2026 and updated the post on 6 July. The release adds Windows Web Account Manager authentication support, updates bundled Apache Log4j to 2.25.4, adds consent-driven diagnostic uploads, and aligns the gateway query engine with the June 2026 Power BI Desktop release. Microsoft community comments also report Oracle and SharePoint list connection issues around the June build, with patch version 3000.322.5 noted in follow-up discussion.
Before this, report owners often treated gateway updates as infrastructure work that sat somewhere outside the reporting process. In reality, a gateway change can decide whether a dashboard refreshes, whether credentials still work, and whether a Power Query step behaves the same way in Desktop and the service. The new diagnostics are useful, but the comment thread is the reminder: do not roll gateway updates into production reporting blindly. If your reports depend on Oracle, SharePoint lists, or Dataflow Gen2, the update needs a small refresh test plan, a known rollback route, and a named owner for support tickets.
Analysis
Check your gateway version, test one Oracle or SharePoint-list-backed refresh after the update, and save the result beside your report refresh runbook.
