Microsoft introduced Frontier Tuning, a private preview approach for teaching AI agents how a company actually works inside its compliance boundary.

At Build 2026, Microsoft announced Frontier Tuning for agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio and Microsoft Foundry. The system uses reinforcement learning environments, company data, workflows, evaluation signals and controls to produce tuned models, skills and orchestration that stay within the organization's compliance boundary.
A common Copilot adoption problem is that generic answers are easy to get, but useful company-specific behaviour is harder to produce reliably. Frontier Tuning is promising because it points toward agents trained around how an organization actually works. It also depends on clear workflows, good evaluation criteria and decisions about which business knowledge should shape agent behaviour.
Analysis
Pick one repeated Copilot task that still gives generic output and define what a 'good' answer would include, what it must avoid and who should judge it.
