Excel Copilot helps users choose multi-criteria report formulas

Excel University published a hands-on guide showing Copilot in Excel drafting formulas for three common multi-criteria reporting jobs: returning one record, listing all matching rows, and totalling matching values. The examples use XLOOKUP, FILTER and SUMIFS against Excel Tables, with prompts that tell Copilot the intended reporting outcome.
For report builders, a formula that looks plausible is not enough when it sits inside a monthly pack or an operational tracker. A single-record lookup, a spill range and an aggregate answer are different jobs; choosing the wrong one can quietly omit rows or return only the first match. Copilot can shorten the first-draft work, especially where structured Table references are awkward to write by hand. But the useful habit is to test the generated formula against a known result and check its no-match behaviour before it becomes part of a reusable report.
Analysis
Take one recurring Excel report with two or more selection criteria and write down whether it needs one record, all matching rows, or one total. Ask Copilot for the appropriate formula, then reconcile it against three known cases before reusing it.
