Copilot Notebooks becomes a project workspace

Super Simple 365 reports that the Microsoft 365 Copilot app Notebooks experience is changing in mid to late July 2026. Chats, generated content, and reference material for a project will sit together in one Notebook view, with Copilot app Notebooks syncing to OneNote.
Many Copilot users do not only struggle with prompts. They struggle with where the useful output went afterwards: the chat, the page, the source document, the generated spreadsheet, or OneNote. This update makes Notebooks a more obvious project container, but it also creates a new adoption habit to teach. Users need to know when to start a Notebook, what references belong in it, and how to avoid turning it into another messy holding area.
Analysis
Choose one recurring project and test whether a Notebook keeps source files, chats, and generated outputs easier to review. Write down when your team should use a Notebook instead of a normal Copilot chat.
