Copilot in SharePoint moves beyond site questions into workflow

Microsoft published its July 2026 Copilot in SharePoint roundup on July 16. The update says Copilot in SharePoint can create Office files and interactive HTML reports from site content, help organize libraries through chat, configure simple approvals and rules, expose site skills through /Skills, and show clearer citations and sensitivity labels in chat.
Before this, many users treated Copilot in SharePoint as a better search box for site content. That is useful, but it keeps the risk mostly inside question-and-answer work. These updates push Copilot closer to everyday site operations: creating deliverables, sharing files, changing folders, setting reminders, and standardizing repeatable actions. Adoption leads need to treat it as a workflow surface with site-owner rules, not just another place to ask questions.
