Copilot button gets new ribbon and docking controls

Microsoft says the Copilot Dynamic Action Button in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is being adjusted after user feedback. The update adds a Move to ribbon option and makes docked placement persist while a user works in a document; Microsoft marked the changes as rolling out on June 5, 2026.
Copilot adoption is not only about model quality. If the entry point feels intrusive, inconsistent, or hard to explain, people quietly avoid it or ask admins to remove it. This update is a small but useful adoption signal: Microsoft is still pushing Copilot into the flow of Office work, but it is also giving users more control over where the interface lives. That makes change management easier for teams who are trying to normalize Copilot without making every document feel like an experiment.
Analysis
Update your Copilot enablement notes with the two placement options: Move to ribbon and Dock. Ask pilot users which option reduces distraction before writing your wider rollout guidance.
